Airport Express buses to be replaced by AC-buses

Airport Express buses are to be replaced by air-conditioned(AC) buses to provide better and comfortable ride to passengers as per the transport department of Bihar. The buses will run from Bankipore bus stand to Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport and vice versa. This bidding process for procuring four AC buses has been initiated by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) which is a part of transport department.

In January 2019,three non-AC Airport Express buses had been introduced. Among these three, two run on the R- Block to Bailey Road route and the other one on Patna Junction-New Secretariat route. As per the sources, approximately more than 6.48 lakh people have travelled on these buses so far.

Sanjay Kumar, the transport secretary said, “The fare will definitely go up, but it will be lower than modes of transport.” He also stated that after the completion of bidding process, it would take a couple of months to start the new AC buses.

Apart from this ,the department has also started the bidding process of 10 non-AC buses and 10-CNG- aided ones.This initiative is special as it is the first time when CNG buses will run on the roads of the city. Moreover these buses are environmental- friendly and thus helps in reducing air pollution.The maintenance cost of these buses are also considerably less.

The first CNG fuel station went in service at Auto Care pump near Rukanpura on Bailey Road where as the second one was opened at City Fuel Pump in Patna City. Natural Gas (CNG) can give almost 50% savings over petroleum products such as gasoline and diesel fuel.

It is the cleanest burning transportation fuel in the market today and it burns cleaner than petroleum based products because of its lower carbon content.

All the new buses will have speed governors, CCTV cameras , fire extinguisher ,first-aid facilities and global positioning system.More than 100 buses are running on various routes of the city like Danapur, Danapur Junction, Phulwarisarif, AIIMS- Patna, Patna University, Hajipur railway station, Kurji More, Patna Sahib, IIT- Patna and Patna City. We expect a cleaner Patna with the introduction of these new and advance buses.
